Teaching motion graphics

Exercises we do at the motion graphics class.

I am teaching motion graphics and advanced after effects at IED school in Barcelona. These are some of the exercises that we do at class to learn the basics, always trying to focus on the 12 principles of animation. I will be updating this page as the course goes by.  Check the videos at the end of the project if the gifs don't reload! Thanks for passing by!
The bouncing ball exercise is a classic exercise to understand how to work with animation curves.  We added a deformation and some splashes in order to apply two of the disney animation principles (stretch/squash and secondary animation).
Some kinetic type animation is good for learning how to work with audio files inside after effects.  Animated without in-betweens to practice the "pose to pose" principle.
Practice with shape layers and text to create a lower third.
Animation done by the student Nuno Miguel Ribeiro Santos
